MEA Biochip Applications
The multi-channel cell/tissue monitoring approach is used to investigate system properties in excitable single cell cultures and tissue slices.
MEA biochips can be used with several in-vitro preparations in different culture systems:
- Dissociated cell cultures (neurons, heart muscle cells, ... )
- Organotypic tissue cultures (hippocampus, cortex, spinal cord, ... ) and co-cultures
- Acute tissue slices (hippocampus, cerebellum, spinal cord, retina, ... )
- Stem cell derived cultures
Most experiments are done in the following fields of study:
- epilepsy
- synaptic plasticity
- development
- regeneration
- biological rhythm
- network oscillators
